Perinatal psychology · CRP 04/78214

You were never meant
to carry this alone.

I work with women who are trying to conceive, who are pregnant, who are living through the postpartum, and who are finding their way through motherhood. This is a private space, with no hurry and no judgement, to say out loud what you have not been able to say to anyone else.

Training focused on the perinatal period

Please read this first My sessions are held in Brazilian Portuguese. This page exists so that Portuguese speakers living abroad, and anyone comfortable in Portuguese, can understand what I offer before booking. If you do not speak Portuguese, I will not be able to give you the care you deserve, and I would rather tell you that now than take your money.

You may recognise this

It is not weakness, and you are not exaggerating

Motherhood arrives with a great deal nobody warned you about. If any of these places look like yours, there is care designed specifically for it.

01

The wait that never ends

Trying, tests, fertility treatment, another period arriving. Every month becomes hope and then a small loss that almost nobody around you sees.

02

Pregnant and frightened

Everyone expects you to glow, and inside there is anxiety, fear of birth, fear of not coping, and enormous guilt for not being purely happy.

03

The postpartum nobody described

Exhaustion, crying without a reason, irritation with the people you love, the feeling of getting everything wrong. This has a name, an explanation and treatment.

04

A loss the world does not acknowledge

Miscarriage, pregnancy loss, a baby who did not stay. It is real grief, even when people tell you to move on and try again.

05

Breastfeeding hurt more than your body

Difficulty feeding, pressure from every direction, a sense of failure at something you were told would be natural and instinctive.

06

Who am I now

Going back to work, a different body, a different marriage, friendships that faded. You became a mother, and you are still looking for the rest of yourself.

I am Kelly

I listen to women in the most intense season of their lives

I am a psychologist with postgraduate training in Perinatal Psychology and in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, registered with the Brazilian Regional Council of Psychology under licence CRP 04/78214. My work is dedicated to the perinatal period: from trying to conceive through pregnancy, birth, the postpartum and the first years with a baby, including the paths that do not end the way anyone hoped.

I chose this field because I saw how romanticised this season is from the outside and how lonely it is from the inside. Many women arrive saying the same sentence: I thought I would feel something else. My work starts exactly there, with what you actually feel, not with what people expected you to feel.

You do not need to be well in order to start. You only need a place where you are allowed not to be.

Questions almost everyone asks

Brazilian Portuguese. Therapy depends entirely on nuance, and I am not willing to offer something in a language where I could not follow yours precisely. If you are a Portuguese speaker living abroad, you are very welcome.

A perinatal psychologist supports the mental health of a woman and her family from the moment she starts trying to conceive until roughly the child's second birthday. That covers anxiety and fear in pregnancy, emotional preparation for birth, postpartum depression and anxiety, breastfeeding difficulties, pregnancy and infant loss, and rebuilding a sense of self after becoming a mother.

Yes. Online psychological care is recognised and regulated by the Brazilian Federal Council of Psychology under Resolution CFP 11/2018. In the perinatal period it often works better, because you do not have to leave the house with a baby and you do not lose your slot to traffic or a bad night.

All times on the site are shown in Brasília time, which is UTC minus three hours. My hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm Brasília time. If you are in Europe that usually means afternoon or evening for you; if you are on the west coast of the United States it usually means early morning. Message me on WhatsApp if you need help finding a slot that works.

Payment is taken in Brazilian reais by Pix or credit card. An international card usually works, and your bank will apply its own exchange rate and possibly a foreign transaction fee. A Brazilian tax number, the CPF, is required by the payment processor. If you do not have one, message me on WhatsApp and we will find a way.

Whenever you are ready

The first step can be a small one

You do not need to be certain, and you do not need to be able to explain what you are feeling. Book a first conversation and we will work out where to begin.

This site does not provide emergency care. If you are in acute distress right now, call your local emergency number.
